34 weeks and 4 days but who’s counting. We still watch contractions just about daily but thankfully we’ve managed to keep these two eager beavers safely tucked away. With only a few hard days I’ve managed to stay sane and am forever grateful to family and friends who have come to spend time with me, brought me meals, books, magazines and other goodies. You guys have been such an integral part of me maintaining a positive attitude through the groundhog days. Bed rest is no joke. You join a new club of Mamas when you’ve had to do it this long. I was a skeptic for years. The eye-rolling-how-are-oils-supposed-to-help-anything kind of skeptic. I was the last of my friends to take the plunge and gave them every reason in the book why oils would never be my thing. . But pain, an anxious heart and feelings of helplessness that came along with a difficult pregnancy and depression left me reaching for something, anything that could perhaps offer me some relief. . I quietly ordered my starter kit and began a consistent practice of using my oils daily—in the diffuser, on my wrists and across my heart. The quickest relief i experienced was a more rested nights sleep (after months of battling pregnancy insomnia). This rested sleep translated into less anxiety and irritability because hello, i was actually sleeping again! But also, i began to reach for my oils several times daily and proactively before moments of inevitable tension or increased stress (i.e. my son’s therapy sessions). . These oils began as a reprieve from my own heaviness and eventually became a tool every member of my family has come to depend on. We reach for Owie rollers, rubs for growing pains, oils for sniffles and coughs and fevers, for courage, for sleep and immunity and peace. . If you’ve been on the fence, let my story be your testament of a family transformed. Have we been cured of all our troubles and illness? Hec no!
